Motion 312 – The Final Stretch
KITCHENER, Ontario ? With great sadness Stephen Woodworth has announced the passing of his beloved mother Olga Woodworth on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 after a lengthy illness battled with courageous stamina.
Woodworth, Member of Parliament for Kitchener Centre is mustering all his remaining energy to continue with the scheduled proceedings for his private Member's initiative, Motion 312, requesting a modern medical review of Canada's 400 year old definition of human being.
“I’m inspired by the overwhelming compassion I’ve received from Canadians over the past seven months” said Woodworth. “The support I’ve been given is a tremendous blessing and motivates me to continue to move ahead knowing that my mother approved of my efforts in defence of universal human rights.”
The second hour of debate for Motion 312 is currently scheduled for Friday, September 21st, at 1:30p.m. EST followed by a final vote to be held on Wednesday, September 26th, 2012. Both the second hour of debate and the vote can be viewed on your local CPAC television channel or by visiting www.cpac.ca for a live podcast.
“It is my hope that all those who support Motion 312 will continue with their commendable efforts to date” he said. “Although this has been a difficult time for my family and myself, I will endeavour to put my best foot forward over the next few weeks leading up to the debate and vote.”
Woodworth encourages Canadians to visit his website at www.stephenwoodworth.ca for more information about Motion 312.
